"I
think dogs are the most amazing creatures; they give unconditional
love. For me they are the role model for being alive." -

Frequently
Asked Questions
The
most asked question in the Animal Control field is
"Why put animals to sleep?".
No
one in the Animal Control field likes to put animals to sleep.
It is a necessary job due to people's irresponsible behavior of
not taking better care of their animals.
The
answer is simply there are not enough homes for them all. A large
number of animals enter Animal Shelters all across the United
States on a daily basis. This is mostly due to not enough animals
being spayed or neutered. Animals that breed at will produce 6-12
animals per litter. This cycle happens twice a year. This alone
leads to a staggering number of animals. It is said a pair of
uncontrolled breeding cats will produce 420,000 cats in a six
year breeding life. Two dogs will produce 4,372 dogs in 7 yrs.
It is not hard to see when considering how many animals are out
there that are not spayed or neutered and allowed to breed at
will causes the over population problem we are faced with today.
How
can I help control the pet population?
It's
as easy as watching Bob Barker on The Price is Right when he says
after every show, have your dog spayed or neutered.
How
can I help homeless animals?
You
can volunteer at your local Animal Shelter or Humane Society.
Volunteers are always needed to help with a variety of topics
or tasks. Contact your local organization for details and specific
needs.
What
is your adoption policy? No
fees, but you must sterilize and get rabies shots. Proof must
be provided to the shelter within 30 days. We also encourage health
& heart-worm checks as well as yearly booster shots.
What do you have to do to sign over an animal?
We do not accept owner releases.
However, if the animal is sterilized & vaccinated for rabies,
we will post a picture of the animal on our website with owners
contact information.
What
is the purpose of a dog/cat license? Tags
are used to identify owner so animals can be returned when lost.
Licences gives us access to the info 24 - 7 where other tags are
dependent on the business being open.
Why
do I need one?
It's
the law.
Why
do we have to spay/neuter a dog when we adopt?
To
help prevent pet over population
Do
a lot of dogs/cats get adopted from the Shelter?
Yes,
and even more come in.
How
long do you keep the dogs/cats if they are not adopted? By
law we give the animal 5 days holding for the owner to reclaim,
then if the animal is adoptable we don't put a time period on
them.
How
do I look for my lost dog?
Come
to our facility and physically go through and see if your animal
is here. Repeat this every 3- 5 days. This can be prevented by
putting rabbies/city license tags on your animal.
